St Martin of Bornes Church and St Gerard Chapel

Situated on a high hill in front of the spa town of Pedras Salgadas, this church incorporates architectural elements from different historical periods, which show the successive construction phases of the church, from the original configuration in the Romanesque style to the Modern Period with its Mannerist and Baroque gilded altarpieces. Attached to the church is the Chapel of St Gerald, built in memory of the saint. Legend has it that blackberries grew by the fountain in the middle of winter.
