Saint Eulalia of Pensalvos Church

The Church of Santa Eulália is located in the village of Pensalvos. It is a medieval monument that was extensively remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries. The interior is richly decorated, with gilded altarpieces and a ceiling profusely adorned with oil paintings alluding to various biblical passages. The variety of painted themes turns this ceiling into a valuable pictorial book with biblical, Christological and hagiological motifs.

On the left-hand side of the round arched portico over the altar, there is a beautiful image of ‘La Pietà’, a poignant sculpture of a mother grieving with her son’s corpse against her heart. Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 2006.
