Aruba Mill

Located near the Barroso village of Atilhó, in the parish of Alturas do Barroso and Cerdedo, this mill is part of the project to safeguard and enhance the Boticas municipality’s mollinological heritage. According to experts, there are only two or three other examples known in the world, and this one is rare because of the way the water is admitted, through a pressurised cube formed by a watertight tube made up of stone staves. This type of mill is internationally known as the Aruba mill, of which this rare example remains.
