Visit Alto Tâmega e Barroso

September 27 | World Tourism Day – Tourism and Green Investments

As part of the Strategic Plan for the development of tourism in the region, the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office is a practically self-sustainable building, using glass and wood.

The technical and construction options for this space, which represents the municipalities of Boticas, Chaves, Montalegre, Ribeira de Pena, Valpaços and Vila Pouca de Aguiar, were designed to meet demanding sustainability and durability principles. The orientation of the main room, the position and shading of the openings, the double-glazed window frames, the photovoltaic panels, the zinc roof, the reuse of water, the use of thick thermal insulation and, above all, the use of wood as a structural element and as cladding, are all aspects that make this building a benchmark in terms of sustainability.
In the year in which the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) chooses as its central theme “Tourism and Green Investments”, one of the main priorities for the recovery of tourism, future growth and development, we couldn’t help but present our space as a place of reference for sustainable infrastructures that benefit people, the planet and prosperity!
PTAT invites you to stop by and celebrate this special day, and be surprised with a special welcome kit!
Come and visit us! We’d be delighted to welcome you and introduce you to our region!
