RETROSPETIVA 2023 | Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office

The Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office (PTAT) – a facility that serves the six municipalities of Alto Tâmega e Barroso and which opened its doors in September 2020 – counted more than 12,000 tourists who came here to get information about the region.
The busiest months were April (1,630 visitors), July (1,497 visitors) and August (2,316 visitors), with the majority of these tourists being Portuguese, but also from Spain, France, Brazil and the United Kingdom. Still on the profile of the tourists who visited PTAT in 2023, the majority were looking for the following tourism products: Cultural, Thermal, N2 and Gastronomic. The predominant age group was the 40-50s (5608 visitors), followed by the over-60s (3957 visitors).
In addition to the tourists who visited PTAT to find out more about the area, this infrastructure was also visited by the various “curious” people who showed interest in the 19 exhibitions held in this space, namely:

Cutlery exhibition – “Kitchen to table” – Casa dos Candeias; Exhibition of Portuguese toys “A História do brinquedo Português” (The history of Portuguese toys); Exhibition of products from Termas de Chaves and archaeological collection from the Museum of the region of Flavi; Exhibition of ceramics “Barro Alto” (High Clay); “Nuno Duque” Painting Exhibition; Exhibition of works of art, with assets that are part of the municipal domain – MACNA; “Work in the Alto da Serra” Exhibition – Cabril; “Allegory of António Pizarro’s Painting” Painting Exhibition; Pedras Salgadas International Jumping Competition Exhibition; CIBOS da Terra Promotional Exhibition – Boticas; Historical Matchbox Exhibition; Entrepreneurs Exhibition – CIMAT Ideas Competition; “Águas do Alto Tâmega” Exhibition; Agricultural artefacts exhibition – Harvest Festival; Exhibition and tasting of products from the Onion Fair, Vila Pouca de Aguiar; Exhibition “Papel de Louceiro”; Promotional exhibition “Aldeia Assombrada – Vilar de Perdizes”; Promotional exhibition of the Jewish Chestnut Fair, Valpaços; Exhibition of Nativity scenes from Casa dos Candeias.

In addition to these exhibitions, other activities were also carried out at PTAT, such as: Promotion of events: Gastronomic Pig Fair – Boticas; Smoked Meat Fair – Montalegre; Opening of the N2 Festival with a concert by the artist Margô; Celebration of Valentine’s Day; Chaves Flavours Fair; Theatre play “Adelantarse” by Indieror; Promotion of the Pedras Sounds music festival; Promotion of the Aquae Flaviae People’s Festival; World Tourism Day; Aqua Wine Fest; and Promotion of the Feira dos Santos.
