The Alto Tâmega Tourism Office marked, last Tuesday, September 27, the World Tourism Day. The moment included tastings of regional products and welcome kits to be delivered to visitors
This symbolic gesture included tastings of Olive Oil from Valpaços with Rye Bread from Pitões das Júnias, Pastéis de Chaves and Folar, also from the municipality of Valpaços.
In addition to the tasting of regional products, visitors were given welcome kits with tourist information of all the municipalities, including some offers such as water from Pedras Salgadas, Vidago or Carvalhelhos, Gift Voucher for the Alpine Coaster in Pena Aventura Park and bottles of olive oil in miniature.
According to the tourism technicians the feedback was very positive. The visitors/tourists were very pleased with the products tasted and from the welcome kit the gift voucher for the Alpine Coaster in Pena Aventura Park was a highlight. Taking into account that the age group that visited the facilities that day was mostly between 50-60 years old, they claimed that it would be “a good gift to give to their children or grandchildren to come back to the region”.
The World Tourism Day is celebrated since 1980, on September 27th, and every year the World Tourism Organization (WTO) chooses a theme to mark the date. The theme chosen for 2022 was “Rethinking Tourism”.
