February 10 to 28 | Cabril Carnival in the spotlight at the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office
As part of the promotion of the carnival traditions of the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Region, this year the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office (PTAT) will host an exhibition dedicated to the Cabril Carnival. The exhibition, in collaboration with the Parish Council of Cabril – Montalegre, will be on display at the PTAT between February 10 and 28.
The exhibition highlights the particularities of Cabril’s Entrudo, a tradition rooted in local culture, full of color, music and festive spirit. As usual, the streets are filled with irreverently masked revellers: men dress up as women, women as men, and everyone hides their identity with hats, blankets, colorful scarves, faces or lace cloths. Gloves are essential to guarantee the anonymity of the caretos, the central figures of this celebration.
The PTAT, located in Alameda do Tabolado, in Chaves, is open to the public from Monday to Sunday.
We look forward to seeing you there!
