Ribeira de Pena | Camilo Castelo Branco International Caricature Competition

As part of the “Camilo Por Terras do Interior” project, which continues the celebrations marking the bicentenary of Camilo Castelo Branco’s birth, the municipalities of Ribeira de Pena and Vila Real are organising an International Camilo Castelo Branco Caricature Competition, which will run from 6 April to 4 May 2026.

The aims of this competition are to celebrate the birth of Camilo Castelo Branco and his connection to the municipalities of Ribeira de Pena and Vila Real, and to bring Camilo’s figure and work into everyday life today, seeking to encourage the (re)discovery and reading of his books.

The competition is open to national and international artists, whether amateur or professional.

Prizes will be awarded to the entries ranked first and second, worth €2,500 and €1,000 respectively.

The entries will be exhibited in Ribeira de Pena and Vila Real on dates to be announced in due course.

Entries for the competition must be sent by post by 4 May 2026 to the address indicated in the Rules of Participation.
