Ribeira de Pena | 25th April celebrations
The Municipality of Ribeira de Pena is marking the 25th of April with a programme dedicated to celebrating freedom, democracy and history.
The celebrations will begin on 21 April with the opening of the exhibition ‘MFA Cultural Dynamisation Campaigns’, which will be on display at the School Museum until 5 May.
On 23 April, at 9pm, the book ‘Gravetos da Memória’ by Professor Manuela Vaz de Carvalho will be presented at Casa da Torre.
On 24 April, at 3pm, there will be a parade recreating the demonstration of 25 April 1974, organised by the Ribeira de Pena School Group. In the evening, at 9.30pm, the play ‘O Tesouro’ (The Treasure) by the Urze Theatre Company will take to the stage of the Ribeira de Pena Municipal Auditorium, with free admission.
On April 25, the programme will begin at 11.30am with the Guard of Honour shared by the Ribeira de Pena and Cerva Fire Brigades, followed by the solemn session to commemorate Freedom Day at the School Museum at 11.45am.
The celebrations end on 30 April with the screening of the film ‘Comrade Cunhal’ at the Municipal Auditorium, the 2.30pm screening dedicated to the school community and the 9pm screening open to the general public, with free admission.
