Montalegre | Serrada das Velhas

On the 6th, in the mystical village of Vilar de Perdizes, the “Serrada das Velhas” tradition will be revived. A Lenten custom in which the men, through satire, dedicate “O momento” to the oldest women in the village. It’s a very distinctive song that not everyone can interpret. Voices calloused by age will try to recreate and keep this tradition alive, inspiring the younger generation to keep this ritual alive over time.
The gathering is scheduled for 8pm, next to the Casa do Povo de Vilar de Perdizes. The event, with the support of the Municipality of Montalegre, is promoted by the Union of Parishes of Vilar de Perdizes and Meixide and the Vilar de Perdizes Heritage Defense Association.
