Montalegre | ‘Seeing like a wolf’ exhibition

The headquarters of the Ecomuseu de Barroso in Montalegre is hosting the exhibition ‘Seeing like a wolf’ by Bruno Caracol. The works can be seen from 8 February to 7 April.
‘Seeing like a wolf’ is a plastic investigation into the use of wolf body parts in folk medicine. Looking for contemporary ways of reproducing biological material, the exhibition consists of reproductions of wolf collars, dried wolf tracheas used to treat a livestock disease. Lobagueira or bad wolf air was a kind of lethargy that took hold of the animal as a result of living with traces of the wolf, brought down from the hill with the straw used to make the cattle’s bedding.
These objects are part of a sound installation, composed in collaboration with Laura Marques and recorded with the TransmontaBrass Quartet at the Chaves Academy of Arts. The project also includes a photographic essay by Odair Monteiro.
