Chaves | St Martin’s Festival

São Martinho is the warmest autumn festival in the historic centre of Madalena! This celebration, so special and eagerly awaited by all Flavians, will take place on Monday 11 November, at a time of year when the abundance of the harvest is celebrated and Flavians warm themselves with the spirit of sharing and togetherness, savouring roasted chestnuts and artisanal jeropiga.
The day’s programme starts at 5pm with lots of entertainment, followed at 7pm by the famous magusto, where roasted chestnuts will be shared. Those interested in tasting regional dishes and seasonal snacks will be able to do so on a special gastronomic tour of Madalena’s participating ‘tasquinhas’.
The celebrations of this centuries-old tradition include a performance by the musical group Alta Definição at 9pm in the Terreiro da Madalena, ending at 11.30pm with a fireworks display.

The Madalena and Samaiões Parish Council and the Municipality of Chaves invite everyone to join in this festivity full of flavour and tradition.
