Chaves | St John’s Festival

The municipality of Chaves and the Parish Council of Santa Cruz/Trindade and Sanjurge are continuing to celebrate the traditional St John’s Day, with lots of revelry, typical food, basil and entertainment. The get-together will take place on Sunday 23 June, starting at 7.30pm in Rua Joaquim Mazarém, in front of the Chaves School Centre.
The 4th edition of this festivity promises to enliven the night of all the flavienses to the sound of popular Portuguese music, with the performance of the “Musical Norte” Group and a pyrotechnic display to continue the “bailarico”.
During the festival, there will be no shortage of the scent of basil, popularly known as “erva dos namorados” (lovers’ herb), scattered around the stalls alluding to the celebration, a little pot that symbolises the festivities in honour of the popular saints.
