Chaves| ‘Be a Smuggler for a Day’ Solidarity Walk
Next Saturday, September 21, the ‘Be a Smuggler for a Day’ Solidarity Walk will take place, organised by the Rotary Club of Chaves, in favour of the ‘Smile for Life’ project, which aims to provide dental treatment to cancer patients in need.
The walk will cover an old smuggling route to Rabal, Spain, during which the participants will be the smugglers, where there will be no shortage of riflemen, the Tax Guard, and even an interrogation when they end up arrested at the Barracks, and then celebrate with a traditional lunch.
There will also be room for culture, with a performance by the Vilarelho da Raia Singing Group and a guided tour of the village’s Ethnographic and Archaeological Museum. Participants will have the opportunity to visit other points of interest, such as Águas da Facha, a source of natural fizzy water with great therapeutic value. At the end, there will be a closing snack, crowned with a theatre performance of an adaptation of Miguel Torga’s short story ‘Fronteira’, by members of the Rotary Senior University of Chaves.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit other points of interest. Full programme at https://www.rotary1970.org/rotary-club-de-chaves-propoe…/
Registration is 30 euros for the full programme or 20 euros just for the walk – including insurance – and must be completed by September 17 via the following link: https://forms.gle/dxoaAacnz8X3LbRw9
