
Conference “The European Structural and Investment Funds in Alto Tâmega and Barroso” counted with about one hundred spectators
It was in the Noble Hall of Boticas Town Hall that today, 13th of February, about one hundred spectators attended the Conference “The European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) in Alto Tâmega and Barroso”.
This Conference was organized by the Intermunicipal Community of Alto Tâmega and Barroso (CIMAT) and aimed to give to know to the civil society and local actors of the region the applicability of the ESIF, in order to improve its perception and encourage more citizens and companies to appeal to the European funds already in the next Operational Program (PO) 2030.
The host, the Mayor of Boticas – Fernando Queiroga, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the mobilization for this session that had a full room.
The opening session was made by the President of CIMAT and also the Mayor of Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Alberto Machado, who made contextualization the goal of this conference, as well as the project that originated it and all the work that has already been developed under this project, namely, the production of six videos, one for each municipality in the territory, in which each one of them contemplates a public work and a private one with more representativeness when it comes to attracting financial support for the region.
The presentation of the implementation of Portugal 2020, as well as some of the most relevant projects of entities (public and private) of the region that used the support of the ESIF was given by Ramiro Gonçalves, First Executive Secretary of CIMAT.
The responsible regretted the fact that the Alto Tâmega and Barroso region hasn’t been contemplated with a bigger allocation of funds, compared with other regions with identical demographic characteristics, hoping that the new communitarian support framework may change this history.
Ramiro Gonçalves stressed, still, the importance to reinforce the capacitating of the local actors in what concerns the European Funds, believing to be a key factor in the caption of these investments for Alto Tâmega and Barroso.
The strategy 2030, as well as the expectations of the next communitarian support framework, were in charge of the member of the Coordination and Regional Development Commission of the North (CCDR-N), Humberto Cerqueira, in substitution of President António Cunha, for agenda reasons could not be present.
In the audience were the remaining four mayors of the municipalities of Alto Tâmega and Barroso, accompanied by some elements of the respective executives, members of the board of the Intermunicipal Assembly of CIMAT, most of the members of the Strategic Council of CIMAT, as well as other entities with high relevance for the territory and civil society.
