Barro Alto highlighted at the Tourist Office of Alto Tâmega and Barroso
Between 2 and 12 April, the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourism Office (PTAT) hosts the ceramics exhibition “Barro Alto”, demonstration and modelling of clay.
The black clay, originated from the locality of Vilar de Nantes, is a handicraft product with great tradition and expression in the municipality of Chaves, however, the number of potters has been decreasing along the last decades.
Thus, so that this tradition is not forgotten, this project was born which, according to information available on the webpage of “Barro Alto”, “we intend to put to use again this sustainable resource existing in Trás-os-Montes, so that the undoubted link between the final pieces and the raw material that originates them is resumed, with a contemporary touch, always based on what nature offers us”.
From 2 to 12 April visit the PTAT, located at Alameda do Tabolado, in Chaves, and let yourself be involved in the tradition of black clay.
