Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office: three years promoting a territory of excellence

It was on September 17, 2020 that the Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office (PTAT) was born, located in Alameda do Tabolado in Chaves, thus taking another step in the networked promotion of the entire territory.
Over these three years of existence, the number of visitors to the PTAT has been increasing: in 2020 and 2021, years marked by the various lockdowns imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, 2,046 and 12,047 visitors were registered, respectively; in 2022 there were 13,622 entries; and as of August of this year there have already been 8,977 visits. These figures make a total of 36,692 visitors.
Among those who visit the territory the most, tourists of Portuguese nationality occupy first place, followed by Spaniards and, in third place, the French, with the most common age group being 40-50 years old, followed by the over 60s.
The three most popular tourist products for those visiting PTAT are Cultural (Historical and Museum Heritage), National Road 2 (N2) and Thermal.
The PTAT is the main gateway to tourism in Alto Tâmega e Barroso and has so far organized 43 initiatives, including exhibitions of some of the region’s most emblematic events, as well as spaces dedicated to figures from the region.
The Alto Tâmega e Barroso Tourist Office is open every day, from Monday to Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you
