Warrior steles

In the village of Castelões there are burial monuments dating from the late Bronze Age. These are stelae, tomb monoliths with engravings of the weapons of the deceased warriors, such as the spear, sword or shield, and are the best example of the warrior societies of around 3,000 years ago. These stelae, whose identifying feature is the representation of the tip of a spear, a circle and a canid, mean ‘raised stone’ and can be seen in the village’s central square.
