Sapiãos Anthropomorphic Graves

A necropolis with five anthropomorphic graves, medieval in date (11th-14th centuries), excavated from a rocky outcrop. Located in the middle of the path that leads to the Romanesque Church of Sapiãos, four of them are orientated east/west and one is orientated northwest/southeast. Of this group, the largest grave, which can be seen in its entirety, measures around 1.80 metres in length and around 45cm in shoulder width; the others are smaller, two of which are partially cut.
