Santa Maria das Júnias Monastery
por pessoa
The Monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias, built and worked entirely in granite, has its origins in the Middle Ages, around the 12th century. Set in a narrow valley in the Peneda-Gerês National Park (PNPG), with an idyllic landscape backdrop, it displays the typical characteristics of Cistercian abbeys. The church stands out, although it has undergone several alterations over the years, it still retains important Romanesque and Gothic remains, namely the longitudinal nave of the church, the apse and its façade, while the Baroque style can also be identified in the altarpiece.
