Ox Tower

The Torre do Boi (Ox Tower) is a commemorative monument that symbolises and materialises the importance of the ox in this village and throughout the municipality of Montalegre. Secularly connected to rural populations, the Barrosã breed (native to the region) is also the symbol of the municipality. Playing a fundamental role in agriculture and supporting the household, it is part of Barroso’s culture and identity.
