Our Lady of Azinheira Church

One of the most original late-Romanesque churches in the Chaves area and one that reflects how, around the ancient city of Aquae Flaviae, a relatively homogeneous architectural centre was created at the turn of the 13th century.
The first documentary references to the church date back to 1235, which attests to its existence around that time. The project drawn up at the time was constructively adapted to the limited financial conditions of the endeavour: a church with a single nave and a wooden roof.
