Mercy Church of Chaves

The Misericórdia de Chaves was founded in the first quarter of the 16th century, and the original church of the brotherhood was built before the middle of that century. Nothing remains of this sixteenth-century church, as it showed obvious signs of ruin at the beginning of the eighteenth century, giving way to a new, baroque-inspired building. The Ombudsman’s building has a sober façade with a mannerist style and erudite lines.
