Bolideira Stone

The Bolideira Stone is located about 18 kilometres from Chaves, near the EN103 motorway, in the granite massif of the Brunheiro mountain range, at an altitude of 919 metres. On the way up from Chaves, you can see large granite blocks lining the slopes. The famous ‘bolideira stone’ is one of the largest and most interesting of these blocks. Irregularly shaped, flattened, over 3m high and around 10m wide, it has the particularity of weighing tonnes and being able to move, oscillating, with a push from anyone.
