Ribeira de Pena | Heritage Walk
In celebration of International Monuments and Sites Day, the Ribeira de Pena municipality, through the Ecomuseum, is organising an exciting walk through the region’s heritage.
Scheduled for 21 April, this journey promises to explore the vernacular architecture of the municipality’s picturesque mountain villages.
The hike will take place in Macieira, a town rooted in history and tradition, and will cover approximately 6 kilometres, with a mountain route of easy difficulty.
During this unique experience, participants will be led past a series of expressive thematic points, including mills, mariolas, enclosures, fojos and old cobbled streets. In addition, they will be treated to a breathtaking view of Monte D’Ordens.
Those interested in taking part have until 15 April to register. This can be done by calling 259 490 500, filling in the online form or directly at the Ecomuseum’s premises.
The starting point for the walk will be the Macieira chapel. For those who need transport, there will be options available in Ribeira de Pena, in front of the Church of the Saviour, at 9.00 am, and at the Central Square in Cerva at 9.30 am. We recommend that participants wear suitable footwear and bring food and water for the walk.
It’s important to note that registration is free but compulsory, in order to guarantee the organisation and safety of all participants.
