9 December to 7 January | PTAT hosts nativity scene from the 25th edition of the Montalegre Exhibition

The Alto Tâmega and Barroso Tourist Office (PTAT) is hosting, for the first time, one of the nativity scenes that are part of the 25th edition of the Montalegre Nativity Scene Exhibition, an annual initiative promoted by the Montalegre Municipal Library.

The exhibition is the result of community work involving mainly senior citizens from the Barroso region, as well as individuals and collectors who, year after year, contribute to preserving and sharing the Christmas experience associated with the figures of the nativity scene, a central element of the Barroso religious tradition.

The partnership between PTAT and the Municipality of Montalegre allows one of the region’s iconic nativity scenes to be brought to the tourist space, enhancing the local cultural heritage and strengthening the connection to the Barroso community during the festive season.

The nativity scene will be on display from 9 December to 7 January at PTAT, located on Alameda do Tabolado, in Chaves, open Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
