Ponte da Misarela – Devil’s Bridge
$1 por pessoa
Medieval bridge, entirely made of granite, with a single arch, connects the municipality of Montalegre and Vieira do Minho. In 1809, he witnessed the withdrawal of the second French invasions, commanded by Marshal Soult, who met resistance here. Its construction, beauty and fragile nature elevate it to a mystical level that is lost in time. With its construction popularly attributed to the Devil, it also goes by the name “Ponte do Diabo”. The population believed they had supernatural powers in the field of fertility. Legend has it that, if a woman had difficulty getting pregnant, was pregnant and was afraid of miscarrying or that the pregnancy was not going well, she should look for the bridge and perform a ritual.
