Our Lady of Conception Chapel – Granja Velha

Dating from the first half of the 18th century, it is a Baroque chapel with a classical style. The chapel has a façade in which the founder’s coat of arms stands out and, on the outside, there is an unusual detail – the side access to the choir with a balcony, all built in granite. During the time that Camilo Castelo Branco lived in Ribeira de Pena, in Granja Velha, he attended the classes of Father Manuel da Lixa. The churchyard was a witness to many of the moments Camilo spent in Ribeira de Pena.
