Chaves | Painting Exhibition by Júlio Ramada
Born on 20 December 1954 in Vidago, Júlio Ramada is one of the town’s most prominent cultural figures. From an early age, he showed a special sensitivity for the visual arts, transforming this vocation into a life dedicated to creation, education and cultural promotion.
A technology teacher for 40 years at the Fernão de Magalhães Secondary School in Chaves, Júlio Ramada left a deep mark on several generations of students, encouraging them to see art as a form of expression and personal discovery.
Alongside his teaching, he always maintained a strong connection to the cultural life of Vidago. He was one of the driving forces behind the Casa de Cultura de Vidago, actively participating in projects and initiatives that enriched local artistic life. His involvement also extended to theatre and music, as part of a fado group in Vidago, where he continues to share his love of art and tradition.
As a painter, Júlio Ramada has built a solid and coherent career, exploring different techniques and themes, always with his own unique identity. Throughout his career, he has held numerous exhibitions, both individual and collective, where he has presented works that reflect his sensitive view of the landscape, colour and daily life in Trás-os-Montes.
His life and work represent a commitment to artistic creation and community service — a career dedicated to culture, education and art that makes Júlio Ramada an essential reference in Vidago.
