Between 23 and 30 September, the Municipality of Chaves is marking European Sports Week with a range of activities open to the community, organised in partnership with local sports clubs and associations, with the aim of encouraging physical activity and giving people the chance to try out different sports.<\/p>\n
Tennis, padel, chess, futsal, athletics, football, self-defence, traditional martial arts, volleyball and karate are just some of the sports on offer, allowing participants to try out different activities and choose those that best suit their interests.<\/p>\n
Participation is free of charge, subject to registration with the participating clubs or associations, and is subject to the number of places available for each session. On Tuesday 29 September, from 9.00 pm, the Quarteir\u00e3o Cultural will host the colloquium \u201cHigh-Level Competition and Active Ageing\u201d, featuring the National Futsal Coach, Jorge Braz; the coach of Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, V\u00edtor Martins; the elite athlete, Ivo Tavares; and the National Walking Football Coach, Andr\u00e9 Coelho. The discussion will be moderated by Paulo Silva Reis, a correspondent for the newspaper Record.<\/p>\n
