Inspired by the verses of Ces\u00e1rio Verde \u2014 \u2018I paint pictures with letters\u2019 \u2014 the artist transforms words into colour, gesture and matter.<br \/>\nThese are works in which colours and textures are arranged in such a way as to transform the letters \u2014 or the signs \u2014 that Ces\u00e1rio had turned into poetry in his verses, into paintings.<\/p>\n<p>In this exhibition, the poems take on a visual form, in a relationship where every painting is poetry and the two intersect without illustrating one another, revealing the visual and symbolic power of the signs that inhabit our modern world.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by: Municipality of Chaves, Jo\u00e3o Vieira House Museum<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For Jo\u00e3o Vieira, the written word ceases to be merely language and becomes painting.
