SUMMARY:Chaves | Exhibition “I Paint Pictures with Letters”
DESCRIPTION:For João Vieira, the letter ceases to be merely language and becomes painting. Inspired by Cesário Verde’s verses, “I Paint Pictures with Letters”, the artist transforms words into colour, gesture and matter.\nThese are works in which colours and textures are arranged in such a way as to transform the letters – or the signs – that Cesário had turned into poetry in his verses, into paintings.\nIn this exhibition, the poems take on a visual form, in a relationship where every painting is poetry and the two intersect without illustrating one another, revealing the visual and symbolic power of the signs that inhabit our modern world.\nOrganised by: Municipality of Chaves / João Vieira House Museum\n
