DESCRIPTION:Moving images, light and water effects and various scenes from everyday life are represented in the nativity scene at Casa de Santa Marta in Chaves, created by Mother Laurentina and the staff of the home. A hand-built work of art, it depicts all the passages of Jesus’ birth and contains representative elements of the city of Chaves, such as the Roman bridge of Trajan, the river Tâmega and the Casa da Madalena. This crib also celebrates 800 years since the first crib was created by St Francis of Assisi in 1223.
